Richard Tan, CEO
From Failed Businessman to Global Entrepreneur
Richard started a business in 1990 selling a non-slip chemical for floors. Not only was the product unable to prevent slipping, it also ruined the floors in the process. Ultimately, it left him saddled with $600,000 in debt, and resulted in almost 20 lawsuits.
In 1993, Richard started a company called Success Resources to organize conferences all across Asia . A crucial test came in 1995. Just 6 weeks before a conference in Hong Kong , only 250 tickets had been sold for a venue that meant to accommodate 6,000 people. Richard had never cancelled a seminar before and was determined not to have this one be the first.
Determined to personally sell tickets for the conference, Richard travelled to Hong Kong . During that time, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. By travelling to Hong Kong despite his life threatening condition, the doctor thought Richard was crazy! However, seeing Richard’s unshakable determination, he agreed Richard could go, on the condition that he continues his treatment while in Hong Kong .
Richard began each day at 7.30 in the morning. One by one, he knocked on doors promoting the conference. He would start from the top floor and walk down every floor of the building to promote the conference. In the afternoons, the common time for lunch breaks, Richard went for chemotherapy.
In an unforgettable video footage of the 1995 National Achievers’ Congress in Hong Kong , Richard can be seen on stage without hair, presenting a talk before a crowd of 4,000 people! Richard said in a landmark speech, “If I do nothing challenging, I don’t leave a footprint in life by doing the very best I can. I cannot give my family the best.”
Singapore has acknowledged Richard’s vast achievements as the model for successful entrepreneurs by awarding him the prestigious 2003 Phoenix Award. Awarded by the Singapore Government, the Phoenix Award is given to just one successful entrepreneur from Singapore each year.
Richard was formerly the Director of Meta Group Asia Pacific, a strategic IT analysis and consultancy firm. He also currently sits on the boards of several international corporations. |

Patrick Liew, Director
Zero to Hero
Patrick Liew grew up with Richard Tan and their friendship remains as close as brothers. As the middle child in a typical Asian family, Patrick grew up sharing a 300 square foot room with seven other people. Every evening, the fishball noodle seller would come by the kampong (a word in Malay meaning “village”) and Patrick could only smell the delicious noodles while watching others eat.
At that time, he decided he will no longer go through this lifestyle. Patrick also didn't want his children to suffer.
Thereafter, Patrick completed his studies and went on an interesting journey that spanned more than 30 years of his life. Patrick wanted to discover the formula for success and what it is that makes people rich...
Patrick went on to spend thousands of dollars each month educating himself. He read numerous books and trade magazines, attended all kinds of courses and seminars, watched videos and listened to audio cassettes. He also travelled the world and sought out gurus, and even went to their homes to discover what made them successful. Eventually, he found his answer!
That answer is found in the three Great Equalizers: “Those who don’t know can know”. “Those who don’t have can have” and “Those who have a low standard of living can have a much higher standard of living.”
The first Great Equalizer is called Education. If you want to change your destiny and improve your lifestyle, then you need to learn and get better results.
The second Great Equalizer is called Technology. Technology has changed the way we work, the way we live, and the way we play.
The third Great Equalizer is called Entrepreneurship. SkyQuestCom is THE business for the modern age because it combines all three Great Equalizers. SkyQuestCom brings the best of education through the technology of the Internet to almost anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Network marketing is one of the most powerful ways for entrepreneurs to bring high value products to information overloaded consumers in the 21st century.
Because of this deep conviction of the importance of education, Patrick partnered with Richard. Together they bring the world’s best gurus to anyone with an internet connection.
Patrick was the Regional Director of Gartner Group, Head of Sales and Marketing Operations of Dow Jones and a member of the management committee of Siemens Nixdorf. He is also widely considered one of the best speakers in Asia and was the first Asian to have taught at the National Speakers’ Association, the world’s largest body of platform speakers. |
